'Breakfast and a Movie' Continues After Sugar Cafe Closes

Hollywood Theater will continue to hold "Breakfast and a Movie" events, and the Sugar Cafe owner will continue providing the meal.

It wasn't long after Dormont's Hollywood Theater partnered with Sugar Cafe for "Breakfast and a Movie" events that the popular Dormont cafe unexpectedly closed its doors.

This led to questions on the Facebook pages of both organizations about whether the new event would continue.

The answer, according to Friends of Hollywood Theater member Margaret Jackson, is yes.

In an email to Dormont-Brookline Patch, Jackson said Kelly James, owner of Sugar Cafe, plans to continue providing breakfast for the event through this year.

"Kelly James will continue to cater the event through 2013," Jackson wrote. "The event [last week] was wonderful, same quality of goodies and coffee."

The next Breakfast and a Movie is "The Maltese Falcon" (1941) on Feb. 17. Tickets must be purchased by Feb. 14. See The Hollywood Theater website for details.

As for the future of Sugar Cafe, the details remain vague, but the Sugar Cafe Facebook page is still up and running and includes this hopeful message to patrons:

"Making plans for the next chapter of Sugar Cafe. Stay tuned!"
