Author Michel Sauret to Sign New Book at The Oven in Wexford

'Amidst Traffic' is a collection of short stories by the award-winning writer.

If you stop by The Oven Pizza Co. in Wexford on Friday, you can meet author Michel Sauret, get him to sign a copy of his latest book for you, then enjoy a free holiday espresso drink.

Such a deal, huh? And just in time for the holiday season when you need to get a unique gift like, say, an autographed book.

Sauret will sign copies of his book, Amidst Traffic, from 10 a.m to 1 p.m. (lunchtime) and again from 5 to 8 p.m. (dinnertime) at the restaurant in the Village at Pine.

When you purchase Amidst Traffic, The Oven will give you a free holiday espresso drink for supporting its former employee. All restaurant purchases earn a voucher for a discounted book price of $10 during the special autograph sessions—the book's listed price is $12.95.

Sauret studied creative writing at the University of Pittsburgh and has had his short stories published in literary journals around the world, including the U.S., Great Britain and Australia.

He published his first novel, Breathing God, at the age of 18.

He has served as a public affairs specialist and journalist for the U.S. Army since 2006. His work has won several Scoop Brumfield awards, and he’s earned the title of top Army Journalist of the year with his Keith L. Ware Award in 2008.

His short story, “Lost in the Night” appeared in the anthology, “Best New Writing, 2008″ and his story, “Three Straws” earned honorable mention in the Monty Culver Award in 2010.

Here's the book's description from Amazon.com:

“Amidst Traffic” is a collection of high-caliber short fiction, compiled from Michel’s best work over the years. Some of these stories have appeared in literary journals and publications internationally.

Every piece is crafted with a sense of compassion for the human spirit, while seeking answers about the conflicts we experience in everyday life. The characters inside will make you care about their struggles and hope for their redemption.

But the most compelling aspect of this collection is how the ink from one story bleeds into another, creating a world of interconnected storylines. The lives of these characters don’t exist inside a fictional vacuum.

Amidst the traffic of their chaotic lives, a larger picture will take shape around them. These stories will leave you in awe, move you emotionally and make you reflect on the impact your own life has on others.
