5 Things to Know As KO Students Head Back to School

From activity buses to picture day, here are five dates you should know.

The first day of school for Keystone Oaks students was Aug. 26, and now that the back-to-school shopping is done and class schedules are assigned, there are a few upcoming dates for students and parents to keep in mind.

Here are a few things coming up in September:

  • The 5:15 p.m. activity bus is in operation as of Aug. 26, and runs Monday through Thursday throughout the school year. The 4 p.m. activity Bus will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 3 and will run only on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the school year. A bus will take students to Green Tree and Castle Shannon, and students can catch the bus behind the high school cafeteria.
  • There are no classes on Monday, Sept. 2 due to the Labor Day holiday.
  • Open House at Keystone Oaks High School is Tuesday, Sept. 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. On the same evening, a college fair will be held in the gymnasium from 7 to 9 p.m. Open House for Keystone Oaks Middle School is Wednesday, Sept. 11 from 6 to 8 p.m.
  • Picture Day is Thursday, Sept. 12 for high school students; Wednesday, Sept. 18 for Myrtle students; Wednesday, Sept. 25 for Middle School students; and Thursday, Sept. 26 for Aiken students. Picture Day for Dormont Elementary students has not been announced on the district's website.
  • Homecoming weekend is scheduled for Oct. 18 and 19.
