Fans Line Up To Catch Glimpse of Emma Watson in Dormont

Scores lined up to catch a glimpse—and perchance an autograph—of the star, or just to watch some Hollywood outside the Hollywood.

After a good hour's worth waiting, the words "lights, camera, action" or "roll 'em" were never heard, but an all-business woman walked out to the crowd gathered across the street from Dormont's Hollywood Theater and said: Yes, Emma Watson would be out shortly to sign autographs.

No flash, please, or Watson would leave.

Dozens had waited for Watson, launched to stardom on via the "Harry Potter" tales, to make an appearance—hoping for an autograph or a glimpse while she was in Dormont filming "The Perks of Being A Wallflower."

Among those scoring an autograph was Stephanie Ertel, 16, of Dormont.

"She's so cute. She's adorable," Ertel said of the first celebrity she's scored an autograph from.

Ertel had waited with friend Stephanie Zaharko, 16, and her sister Briana, 11, for the chance to see Watson.

And it was successful: All scored autographs—the elder Zaharko on a Harry Potter CD.

"I've read all the books and watched all the movies," she said.

Shannon Hunter, 28, of Dormont, was waiting with her friend Mandi Leddy, of Pittsburgh, to see if she might spy actor Paul Rudd.

But she knew it was a predominantly Watson affair. "I've seen a lot of Harry Potter books," she said.

Hunter said it was also cool to be on scene because while in college, she'd read the book the film is based on, "The Perks of Being A Wallflower" by Upper St. Clair native Stephen Chbosky.

She pointed him out among the movie crew: There, in plaid.

"It's cool to be on a movie set and it's cool that it's within walking distance" of her house, she said.
