Dormont Theater Fundraising Brings in Nearly $17,000

The goal is $70,000.

The Hollywood Theater's online fundraising campaign raised nearly $17,000. 

The fundraiser on indiegogo.com brought in $3,000 in the 48 hours before the deadline, according to the Tribune-Review.

Managing director Chad Hunter told the newspaper that 304 people donated online, averaging $55 per donation, which exceeded his expectations.

The theater also acquired more than 100 new members who get theater perks, such as discounted tickets and free concession items.

The next step in fundraising is to seek donations from corporations and foundations, according to the report.
