Author of “Dog Jack” to Appear at Hollywood Theater

Florence Biros, author of the book "Dog Jack," will sign autographs at the theater on Saturday.

In a special event, author Florence Biros will be signing autographs at the theater this Saturday.

Biros is the author of “Dog Jack,” a Civil War-era story about a boy and his dog, who escape slavery and join the union army.

The movie, based on true events, is directed by Edward T. McDougal and narrated by Academy Award winner Louis Gossett, Jr. Several of the battle scenes were filmed in Darlington, PA, and the ballroom scenes were shot locally at the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum in Pittsburgh.

The film will be shown twice at the Hollywood this weekend. The first showing is tonight, Friday, at 4 p.m. and the second showing is Saturday at 7pm.
