Water Main Replacement Project to Affect South Hills Communities

Reports of a water main break in Green Tree on Tuesday morning make this news all the more relevant.

Reports of a water main break Tuesday morning at the intersection of Potomac Avenue and Greentree Road made news of an upcoming project to replace water mains all the more relevant.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported Tuesday that Pennsylvania American Water plans to replace 11 miles of water main lines in the Pittsburgh area, including many South Hills communities.

The work will be done in Baldwin Borough, Baldwin Township, Bridgeville, Collier, Green Tree, Mt. Lebanon, Peters, Scott Township, South Fayette, Whitehall, Brookline and Beechview, among several more communities.

In Green Tree, the work will be the second phase of a project to replace underground utility lines there, according to the report. The work is scheduled to start this summer and be finished by the end of the year.
