Spring Cleaning, Saturday in Brookline

Brookline's cleanup day is this Saturday … and they have donuts.

Set aside whatever spring cleaning you have to do at home this weekend – Brookline’s community cleanup day is this Saturday …

… and they have donuts. And a cookout. And a gardening seminar.

The cleanup starts at 9 a.m. sharp, with coffee and donuts at . A few hours of garbage pickup on the Boulevard and surrounding streets will start when the donuts are gone.

Gloves and garbage bags will be provided, but feel free to bring extras or garbage picks, if you have them. Volunteers will be assigned streets to clean as the morning coffee is doled out.

After the cleanup, volunteers can head back to Cannon Coffee for a cookout. Cannon owner and “chef” Nate Mallory will man the grill, and extras will be provided by winner .

A horticulturist from Phipps Conservatory will lead a seminar on shade gardening at 2 p.m.
