Registration Open for Dormont's Doggy Dip

The pre-registration deadline for the 2013 Doggy Dip is Aug. 29.

The end of summer means the end of pool season for human, but for their four-legged companions, there's still one swimming day left.

Dormont's fifth-annual Doggy Dip is Sept. 2 at Dormont Pool, and pre-registration is open until Aug. 29.

The event—which is for dogs and their humans only—features swim sessions for dogs, games and raffles. Each participant will receive an event bag. Three sessions will be held so that big dogs and little pups have their own spaces:

  • Small Dog Session (30 pounds or less) 4 to 5 p.m.
  • All Dog Session (all sizes welcome) 5:15 to 6:30 p.m.
  • Large Dog Session (60+ pounds) 6:45 to 8 p.m.

Each dog must be accompanied by its owner. Dogs can be taken off their leashes once inside the pool deck area, but must be kept under control by their owners or they will be asked to leave without a refund.

The pre-registration fee is $20 per dog, per session, and the fee after Aug. 29 is $25 per dog, per session. Proceeds will be split between the Dormont Pool and the Western PA Humane Society.
