Recipe of the Week: Baked Brie with Apricot, Honey & Almonds

This dish will satisfy your guests at any holiday party.

I love cheese.

It's pretty simple. But—I am in love with brie cheese. I found this lovely recipe on resident's  Pittsburgh Hot Plate website. And we all know that Chuck knows what he is talking about when it comes to food.

1 sheet of puff pastry (available in most grocery stores next to the frozen pie crusts)

1 cup apricot preserves

½ cup toasted, slivered almonds

2 tablespoons honey

1 beaten egg for egg-wash

Directions:

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Place the brie on a clean working surface. Unfold the puff pastry and make sure it is thawed before working with it.

Place one cup of apricot preserves on top of the brie wheel. Put ½ of the slivered almonds on top of the preserves. Carefully fold the puff pastry over the cheese tucking the excess dough underneath the cheese.

Brush the surface with an egg wash, and put in a 350 degree oven until the top becomes golden brown, approximately 12-15 minutes.

Remove from the oven, let rest for five minutes and place on a serving dish.

Put the remaining toasted almonds on top, and then drizzle with honey.

Serve with crackers and enjoy!
