Rain, Rain Go Away

No such luck. The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch through Thursday.

The weather forecast is pretty clear: Rain, rain and more rain.

In fact, the National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for the region through Thursday—thanks largely to Tropical Storm Lee and Hurricane Katia.

The mercury is expected to creep up into the mid 60s today before dipping into the 50s overnight, which is a stark difference from last week’s hot and humid temperatures.

“I think I preferred last week,” NWS meteorologist Lee Hendricks said early Monday.

He said Hurrican Katia is slowly moving north, stalling a cold front that’s gripped the region.

The bad news: Between today and 8 a.m. Thursday, western Pennsylvania is expected to see at least an inch and a half of rain. Places such as Latrobe? They could realize about four inches of rain in that time span.

The good news? The sun will come out—even if it isn’t tomorrow.

“The extended forecast isn’t looking all that bad,” Hendricks said. “Things will dry out and we’ll see sunny skies Monday.”

The high temperature then? Expect it to be in the upper 70s, he said.
