Prepare for Weekend Rail Work on the T in Beechview

Red line riders should allow for extra time when traveling during the detours.

Port Authority will detour red line T service on several weekends this spring and summer in order to conduct track repairs in Beechview.

Red line riders should allow for extra time when traveling during these detours. 

The following weekends are scheduled for rail work:

  • April 27-28 (inbound) 
  • May 11-12 (inbound)
  • May 18-19 (inbound)
  • July 20-21 (direction to be announced)
  • July 27-28 (if needed)

The T will detour between Overbrook Junction and South Hills Junction all day each Saturday and Sunday. During the work, service to red line stops will be provided by a combination of detoured red line service, bus shuttles and local light rail shuttles. 

For example, this weekend (April 27-28) inbound red line service will use regular route from South Hills Village to Overbrook Junction/Willow, then detour via the blue line’s routing until South Hills Junction, where it will resume regular routing to Station Square, downtown and the North Shore.

Inbound local light rail shuttles will operate from Overbrook Junction to Potomac Station, and inbound T stops from Potomac to South Hills Junction/Station Square will be served by bus shuttles. Outbound red line will be regular route.

The closure schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or other factors.
