Port Authority Routes Detour Saturday for Occupy Pittsburgh

Nearly 45 bus routes are affected by the event.

The Port Authority will detour about 45 bus routes through Downtown and the Hill District Saturday while streets are closed during the OccupyPittsburgh march and event.

The first detours, on the 81, 82 and 83 bus routes, will be in effect from 9:30 to about 11:15 a.m., the Port Authority said in a statement.

Nearly 45 bus routes will follow detours from 11:15 a.m. until about 3 p.m.during the march, which is expected to follow a route over Centre Avenue, Sixth Avenue, Fourth Avenue, Grant Street and Liberty Avenue, the authority said. Bus stops along those routes may also be changed, and the East Busway entrance off Grant Street will be closed, the authority said.

The authority also suggests that bus riders who are headed to or through Pittsburgh allot more time than they usually need due to road closures and sporting events that are expected to draw more traffic Downtown.
