New Ownership Coming Soon to Eljay's Used Books

One of the store's three owners is taking over the business, and while the name might change, she says customers can expect the same unique Eljay's style.

The ownership—and likely the name—of Eljay's Used Books in Dormont is set to change this summer, but co-owner Chris Rickert said the store's unique style will stay the same.

Rickert is currently one-third of the store's ownership, and plans to become the sole owner of the iconic Pittsburgh-based book shop when owners Frank Oreto and Louise Richardson retire from the business.

There will likely be a name change to the store early next year, but Rickert said that's about all that's changing. Customers can expect to find the same look, the same type of book selection, merchandise, and unique events as always.

In addition, Rickert said she will always honor Eljay's store credit and gift cards, and customers will still be granted 10-percent off of their purchases for wearing an Eljay's t-shirt to the store—even after the name and ownership changes.

More information about the change is on the Eljay's Used Books Facebook page.
