Get Out Weekend Planner: Flag Ceremony, Graduation and Strawberry Festival

Welcome to the new and improved Get Out Weekend Planner! We recently combined the Grab & Go Kids Planner with Get Out for a one-stop shop for fun weekend planning!

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.

Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check out our top picks for this weekend to find something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

Where/When: South Park Flag Retirement Plaza, Thursday, 1 p.m.
Why Go: The specially designed burn receptacle located at the heart of the South Park Flag Retirement Plaza is ready for the tattered United States' flags to be place inside it and set aflame in honor of their service to the country. The Allegheny County Council hosts the annual event to commemorate our veterans and to properly retire as outlined by the U.S. Code the flags that tirelessly serve our nation. Local boy scouts and veterans will dispose of worn United States’ flags by placing them into the burn pit.

Where/When: , Thursday, 7 p.m.
Why Go: Up to $4,000 is given away each Thursday at Bingo! Each game winner receives a $00 prize. There are five specials where you can win $200 for each special. There are many other interesting small games of chance played through the evening. This is a non-smoking Bingo.
Pricing: Donation is $15 for a 25-page 9-card packet, $10 for packet #2 and $5 for packet #3 or more.

Why Go: Yoga will energize your mind and body. There is no registration required for this class. Please bring your own water and towel.
Pricing: $1 mat rental fee.

Where/When: Dormont Stadium, Friday, 7 p.m.
Why Go?: The class of 2011 will walk in the commencement ceremony. Congratulations, students!

Where?/When?: South Park Amphitheater (Brownsville Rd. & McCorkle Rd.), Friday, 7:30 p.m.
Why Go?: The Billy Price Band will perform with Olga Watkins at the South Park Amphitheater. Come enjoy this soulful outdoor concert.

Where/When: , Thursday - Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Why go?: It's strawberry season again at Trax Farms! All weekend long there will be great strawberry treats and activities for the whole family. The treats, made from Trax Farms' fresh strawberries, include strawberry covered Belgium waffles, sundaes, milkshakes and slushies! There will also be great food from the grill. Families can participate in pony rides, the petting zoo, train rides, fishing for berries, a bounce house and so much more! Pick-your-own strawberries will be available, too. Call ahead to make sure of picking times and dates

Why Go: This Make-It Take-It is free with the purchase of the frame. Decorate a picture frame for Father's Day. Ages 3 and up will create the perfect gift for dad's special day, while supplies last.

Why Go?: Ages 3 and up can make special handmade gifts for dad's special day. Participants must purchase a tie or t-shirt while supplies last.
Pricing: Purchase of tie or t-shirt.
