Get Out Weekend Planner

Here are 10 events happening in Dormont-Brookline and surrounding areas.

Welcome to the new and improved Get Out Weekend Planner! We recently combined the Grab & Go Kids Planner with Get Out for a one-stop shop for fun weekend planning!

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.
Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check out our top picks for this weekend to find something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

1.
Where/When: , Thursday, 7-8:30 p.m.
Why Go: Yoga will energize your mind and body. There is no registration required for this class. Please bring your own water and towel.
Pricing: $1 mat rental fee.

2.
Where?/When?: Uptown Coffee, Friday, 6 to 9 p.m.
Why Go?: A family-friendly event featuring free live music and the chance to check out the businesses in Mt. Lebanon’s central business district. Enjoy live street performers and a great community experience.
Pricing: Free.

Where?/When?: , Friday, 7 p.m.
Why Go?: The Golden Eagles will play against Ambridge High School. The Athletic Department urges game attendees to visit highschoolsports.net for the latest updates before leaving for an event, as all schedules are subject to change with very little notice.
Pricing: $6 at the gate.

Where/When: Grey Box Theatre, Friday to Sunday at 8 p.m.
Why Go: Have a night on the town and go to a musical at the Grey Box Theatre. By the Tony-award winning authors of Falsettos, here is an energetic, sardonic, often comical musical about a composer during a medical emergency.

Where?/When?:  Home Depot, Saturday, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Why Go?: The workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills and tool safety, while at the same time helping to instill a sense of accomplishment. Additionally, this fun time allows for quality one-on-one time between adults and children. In addition to the newly constructed project kit, each child receives a kid-sized orange apron, similar to The Home Depot associates' aprons and an achievement pin. This week's project is an ESPN Game Day Board.

Where/When: Michaels, Saturday at 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Why Go: Grandparents Day is on Sept. 11. Ages 3 and up can wish grandparents a joyous day with a handmade card. This is a free make-it, take-it event while supplies last.

Where/When: Michaels, Saturday at 1 to 3 p.m.
Why Go?: Celebrate Grandparent's Day with a personalized frame. This year, Grandparents Day is on Sept. 11. Ages 3 and up can participate in this make-it, take-it event while supplies last.

Where/When: , Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Why Go?: Don’t ignore your health! Keep up to date with your body and receive a blood pressure screening.
Pricing: Free!

Where?/When?: South Park, Saturday to Monday, 12 p.m. start time
Why Go?: Bring the entire family to savor great tastes as teams of cooks battle it out for the best ribs and chicken wings available anywhere. This Labor Day weekend-long event also includes live concerts by a terrific selection of local bands, craft booths, petting zoo, pony rides, beer garden, children's area and even a sports zone. The band Everclear will perform on Friday followed by War on Saturday. On the last day of festivities Molly Hatchet will perform.

Where/When: Any PA Waterway, Monday, 8 a.m.
Why Go?: Labor Day is the state Fish Commission's second Fish-for-Free Day for 2011. This day allows anyone to legally first with or without a fishing license.
