Zombie run, Steve Songs and Cake Boss: 10 events to check out this weekend.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.
Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check out our top picks for this weekend to find something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

Where?/When?: , 7 to 10 p.m. on Friday
Why Go?: Come participant in the viewing of “My Tale of Two Cities.” Meet the film's director and screenwriter, Carl Kurlander, who is hosting the show. Kurlander was also the co-screen writer for the hit, "St Elmo's Fire." Also appearing is "Mr Roger's Neighborhood's" "Mr. McFeely," David Newell, who will be participating in a Q & A, along with Mr Kurlander and several community leaders after the movie. Autographs will be available and Mr. McFeely will end the night with an audience "sing-a-long" of "Won't You Be My Neighbor?" All ages are welcome at this unique event!

Where?/When?: , 7 to 11 p.m. on Thursday to Sunday
Why Go?: Pitcher Park Skatepark presents Dormont Dungeon. Bring the whole family for a spooktacular time!
Pricing: $5 donation.

Where?/When?: South Park or Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday
Why go?: Allegheny County’s eighth annual Phone Card Drive is for U.S. troops who are stationed overseas. Beginning Oct. 17 and continuing through Dec. 10, residents can donate international phone cards weekdays at the Boyce, North and South park offices, as well as the County Executive’s Office in Room 101 of the County Courthouse. Phone cards may also be donated at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum located at 4141 Fifth Ave. in Oakland from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. All donated phone cards will be distributed among the 171st Air Refueling Wing, 911th Airlift Wing, and 316th Regional Readiness Command. During the first seven years of drive, Allegheny County has collected more than 590,000 the phone-card minutes for overseas troops.

Where?/When?: Jefferson Elementary School, 9 a.m. on Saturday
Why Go?: Run along the Thomas Jefferson Cross Country course at Jefferson Elementary. Those running will be given a one minute head start over "zombie" runners. Participants wear flags, or their "lives" and only those who cross the finish with both flags still in place will qualify for a prize. Walkers begin one minte after zombie runners begin. Participants can wear a costume other than a zombie outfit. Refreshments and prizes will be available. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and the run begins at 10 a.m. The children's run begins at 11:30 a.m. Click here for a registration form.
Pricing: Registration is $20. Registration the day of for children's event is $12.

Where?/When?: Rex Theater, 10:30 a.m. on Saturday
Why Go?: Steve Songs from PBS is coming to Pittsburgh for a special concert! Songs will be performing at the Rex Theater in the South Side.

Where?/When?: , 2 p.m. on Saturday
Why Go?: After a perfect regular season record of 7-0, the 6/7 year old Eagles move on to the first round of the playoffs on Saturday. Come out to cheer them on!
Pricing: Free.

Where?/When?: Pittsburgh National Aviary, 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday 
Why Go?: Enjoy a ghostly but-not-too-scary evening at the National Aviary, with plenty of fun for children and adults. The evening will include a costume contest, storytelling, crafts, photo opportunities with Barkley, the Eastern screech owl, and appearances by the Aviary’s Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches! Trainers will also fly the Aviary’s owls in the FliteZone Theater, and halls will be decorated to set the mood. Light snacks will be provided and the Aviary’s café will be open for dinner. Pricing: $13 per adult and $11 per child. Members pay $10 per adult and $8 per child.

Where?/When? Pittsburgh Zoo, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday
Why Go? There is much to do at the KDKA ZooBoo! Venture through the zoo collecting great candy, enjoying the animals and participating in other fun activities along the way.  Stop by your favorite haunts at Gymkhana’s Haunted hideaway and the not-so-spooky train ride. Conjure up a frightfully fun costume for the Halloween Parade and Costume Contest at Water’s Edge. Make a deliciously sweet treat at Casper’s Craft Corner or get spooked at the Docent Council’s Haunted House. Trick-or-treat bags will be provided to all children 13 and younger. Bags will be distributed until 3 p.m.

Where?/When?: South Park, 9 a.m. on Sunday 
Why Go?: The Myasthenia Gravis Association is holding its third annual Doggie Walk Party. The party will be held at South Park's Ethlebert Shelter near the Doggy Park and Gazebo. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the walk begins at 10 a.m. Click here to register.
Pricing: $25 per first dog/human companion includes one T-shirt and one bandanna. Additional dogs (no more than two per human) are $10, which includes one registration and one bandanna.

Where?/When?: Soldier and Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum, 7 p.m. on Sunday
Why Go?: Buddy Valastro, the reality TV star and owner of Carlo's Bake Shop, is back in Pittsburgh for a charity event. Buddy will present his live, two-hour interactive theater show. A portion of the proceeds will go to Family House, Cancer Caring Center and the Magee Womens Research Institute & Foundation.
Pricing: Tickets range from $55 to $65 per person
