Here are 10 events to check out in and around Dormont-Brookline.

It’s Friday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend. Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check out our top picks for this weekend to find something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

Where?/When?: Sugar Cafe, 7:30 p.m. Friday and 6:30 p.m. or 8:30 p.m. on Saturday
Why Go?: The Sugar Cafe will offer a special Winter Holiday Dinner on Friday and Saturday. Guest chef Captain Barnes will prepare a three-course meal. This is a BYOB dinner. for details. Call 412-341-1090 for reservations.

Where?/When?: , 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday
Why Go?: A gentle, yet energizing program of yoga exercises and breathing designed for seniors who want to work on increasing strength, flexibility, and balance.

Where?/When?: The Royal Place, 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturday
Why go?: See Silent Partner at the Royal Place for their final 2011 show. The boys from Dormont and Brookline put on a great show of classic rock and original music. Bring the family and friends and rock the night away!
Pricing: $5, tickets are sold at the door.

Where?/When?: Mt. Lebanon Methodist Church, 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday
Why Go?: The South Hills Chorale will present "A Holiday Potpourri" at the Mt. Lebanon Methodist Church. This is a concert of Christmas music, which will also feature the Mt. Lebanon Percussion Ensemble. Call 412-561-2443 for advance tickets.
Pricing: $12 for advance tickets, $15 for tickets at the door.

Where?/When?: Lowes, Saturday, 10 a.m.
Why go?: It's the final piece of the 2011 Lowe's holiday train! This Train Engine includes stickers and a pullback motor!
Pricing: Free.

Where?/When?: , 7:30 p.m. on Saturday
Why Go?: Join the Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra musicians and their conductor Warren Davidson as they celebrate this holiday season at the Upper St. Clair Theater.  Along with holiday favorites such as Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride and A Christmas Festival, the PCO will be joined by guest singer-songwriter Frank Capelli and soprano Colleen Gray for The Twelve Days of Christmas,  the traditional Carol Sing-Along, and timeless arias.  Other highlights include Rimsky-Korsakov’s Snow Maiden Suite and Mussorgsky’s Festive March. Make plans to bring the whole family to this annual Holiday Event!  The young and young-at-heart won’t want to miss this musical celebration, and a certain someone is sure to drop by for some extra-special Holiday Cheer! Tickets may be purchased at the door. The theater is handicap accessible.
Pricing: Prices are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for students 13 and older. Children 12 and younger are free. Group rates are available.

Where?/When?: , 9:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday
Why Go?: Bring your family to Trax Farms to enjoy a breakfast or lunch with Santa. Breakfast is served at 9:30 a.m. and lunch at 1 p.m. Ticket price includes making a gingerbread house, a coloring contest, meeting with Santa and more! The Cafe will be open for parents to purchase food and beverages. The breakfast menu includes cereal, mini donuts, apple, milk and orange juice. The lunch menu includes a hot dog, chips, apple and Capri Sun. Call ahead and reserve with your credit card. Reservation deadlines are the Thursday the week of the breakfast or lunch.

Where?/When?: Macy's Downtown, 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday
Why Go?: Santa Claus can't live on cookies alone! Sit down with Santa himself and enjoy a scrumptious breakfast, while you and your family are treated to a new holiday show, "Virginia's Magical Christmas!" Plus, each child gets to take home a special* gift! Call 1-877-556-2297 to RSVP.
Pricing: Tickets are $16.95 for adults and $12.95 for children 10 and under. Tots under 12 months are admitted free.

9.
Where/When: , 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday
Why Go?: Don’t ignore your health! Keep up to date with your body and receive a blood pressure screening.
Pricing: Free.

Where?/When?: , 9:15 a.m. on Sunday
Why Go?: Join the church to celebrate the birth of Christ as the CCD students participate in a Christmas program. All are welcome to attend in McCann Hall.
