Get Out: Weekend Planner

Here are 10 events happening in or around the Dormont-Brookline area this weekend.

It’s Friday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend. Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check out our top picks for this weekend to find something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

Where/When: , 3:30 to 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday
Why Go?: The Dormont United Methodist Church offers an after school program to provide a safe, welcoming space for students in grades 5 to 8. Activities include homework help, healthy lifestyle program, multimedia projects and more.
Pricing: $8.00/day. Scholarships are available.

Where?/When?:, 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday
Why Go?: This group is open to cancer survivors and their significant others, and is offered in cooperation with the Cancer Caring Center.  The group meets on the second and fourth Thursday of each month from 7 to 9 p.m. and is facilitated by an oncology nurse and social services. Where?/When?: , 7:30 p.m. on Friday
Why Go?: The Golden Eagles will play against Thomas Jefferson High School in the high school gym. The Athletic Department urges game attendees to visit highschoolsports.net for the latest updates before leaving for an event, as all schedules are subject to change with very little notice.

Why Go?: Your child is sure to love this kit! This castle comes with stickers, paperboard cutouts and a working drawbridge!

Why Go?: Missed your chance to see the show last week? Don’t worry because the show is coming to Upper St. Clair High School. TheatreworksUSA's live stage performance of “Charlotte’s Web” by Joseph Robinette has toured across the country since the fall of 1993 and is based on the Newbery Medal-winning book by E. B. White of the same name. The stage performance follows White's classic story of a pig named Wilbur who is saved from the slaughterhouse by a gifted little barn spider named Charlotte. This treasured tale, featuring madcap and endearing farm animals, explores bravery, selfless love and the true meaning of friendship.

Where/When: Carnegie Science Center, 6 p.m. on Saturday
Why Go?: Ride the rails along deep river canyons and over high mountain passes to discover some of the most stunning and rugged landscapes on Earth! This magnificent steam train adventure weaves spectacular IMAX aerial cinematography of the forbidding terrain of the Canadian Rockies with lovingly restored archival images from the historic, continent-shaping engineering of the nation’s first transcontinental railway.

Why Go?: Gaetano's Restaurant presents the Interactive Murder Mystery dinner theater show. Hart Breaker is trying to throw the perfect Valentine's Day party for her daughter, Candy. Candy isn't impressed with anyone on the guest list and wants to go hang out with her friends instead, but gifts keep arriving from a secret admirer. Something has to be done to save this Valentine's Day party... but who will save Candy Valentine? Ticket includes Dinner, Show, Non-Alcoholic Drinks, Tax and Gratuities.

Why Go?: Restorative Yoga will help release and deepen the connective tissues in your joints by using props to support the body. Postures will be held for 10 or 15 minutes.

Why Go?: Super Grover has lost his super-ness and Sesame Street needs a hero! Never fear, the fabulous five Super Heroes are here! The show features Elmo as Captain Fuzzy! Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Big Bird and all their friends are on a quest to put the “super” back in Super Grover. Singing and dancing their way through fun lessons on healthy habits, they discover how exercise, rest, nutritious food and good hygiene can save Super Grover and turn your children into Super Heroes, too! You’ll be feeling good when Elmo’s Super Heroes comes to town!

Why Go?: Start the new year with a fun and engaging workout!  This class is perfect introduction to the basic belly dance moves for the newcomer and a good review for all levels.  The class also works on conditioning elements to tone and strengthen the whole body and an easy to learn routine at the end of class!   
Pricing: $20 per dancer.
