Get Out: The Weekend Planner

Ten events happening in the Dormont-Brookline area.

Welcome to the new and improved Get Out Weekend Planner! We recently combined the Grab & Go Kids Planner with Get Out for a one-stop shop for fun weekend planning!

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.
Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check out our top picks for this weekend to find something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

1.
Where?/When?:  , Thursday, 8:30 p.m.
Why Go?: Brookline Memorial Park is offering some great free movies this summer. This week, the movie is Secretariat, rated PG.
Pricing: Free.

2.
Where?/When?: , Thursday and Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Why Go?: Come check out some hidden treasures at this flea market sponsored by the LifeSpan Hillsdale Center.

3.
Where?/When?: St. Pamphilus, Thursday-Saturday, 7 to 11 p.m.
Why Go?: The St. Pamphilus Carnival will run from Aug. 18-20. The carnival will feature games, bingo, a basket raffle, moon walk and more! Dinner is served from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday’s dinner will be Italian and a barbecue dinner will be served on Saturday.
Pricing:  Dinners: Thursday: $8 adult, $4 for kids 10 and under; Saturday: $5 for all ages.

Where?/When?: Pottery Barn at the Galleria, Saturday, 10 a.m.
Why Go?: The National Geographic Little Explorers Club is coming to Pottery Barn at the Galleria in Mount Lebanon. This week, the club will focus on all things lions! Children, ages 3 and up, will learn all about these big cats through hands-on activities, songs and more! Children will receive a badge for each event they attend. Call 412-344-1615 to register!

Where?/When?: , Saturday, 10 a.m.
Why Go?: Come participate in ' 1st Annual: Pitcher Memorial Skate Park Cornhole Tournament and Ladder Ball Games! This is a double elimination Tournament and will be limited to the first 128 teams entered. Teams are made up of two people. First Prize is $500. Second and third place prizes are TBA. There will be also be Ladderball prizes and trophies! The event will also feature great and beverage specials throughout the day as well as live music from several different local artists. Rain Date for the tournament is Sunday August 21st. All proceeds are going to the building of the Pitcher Memorial Skate Park.
Pricing: Cost is $40 per team.

Where/When: , Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Why Go?: Neville House Associates presents a special one day Woodville Plantation Antiques Show and Sale held at the  Neville House Museum. Proceeds will benefit the Neville Museum. The Antique Show will feature forty diversified antique dealers in an outdoor setting adjacent to the Neville House.
Pricing: $3

Where?/When?: Michaels, Sunday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Why Go?: Participants, ages 3 and up, can design their own one-of-a-kind artist trading card. This is a free, make-it take-it event while supplies last.

Where?/When?: , Sunday, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Why Go?: In this beginning/intermediate Poi class, participants will look at the art of poi in a few different ways by learning different weaves and variations on basic tricks, looking at planes and seeing how to utilize them. All levels are welcome.
Pricing: $10

9.
Where/When:Michaels, Sunday, 1 to 3 p.m.
Why Go?: Crafters can create a personalized foam stamp and print while supplies last. This is a FREE make-it, take-it event for ages 3 and up.

Where?/When?: Oliver Miller Homestead, Sunday, 1:30 to 4 p.m.
Why Go?: This South Park Pioneer Landmark is holding tours on Sunday. For more information on Oliver Miller Homestead, click here.
