Dormont Street Dept. Picking Up Christmas Trees

The Dormont Borough Street Department will pick up Christmas Trees through Jan. 11.

Wondering what to do with the Christmas tree now that the holiday season has (unfortunately) come to a close?

The Dormont Borough Street Department will pick up Christmas trees for recycling through Friday, Jan. 11.

To have a tree picked up, residents should place trees at the curb after all tinsel and ornaments have been removed. The trees will be picked up and put through a chipper. The mulch will be made available to residents near the salt pile or the pool parking lot.

Due to its high acidity, the mulch is recommended for use around evergreens only and is not suggested for flowers or gardens.

In the event of a large snowfall, trees will be picked up by the borough as soon as possible. After Jan. 11, residents can put trees out with regular garbage.
