Lovers of fine wine or a good brew can quench their thirst at the 7th Annual “A Taste of Dormont” wine and dine food tasting event being held Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Dormont Recreation Center.

Patrons can sample delicacies from a host of the area's finest dining spots while enjoying the cool sounds of a hot duo.

The Reds, Whites, Brews and Blues event will be hosted under the big top, rain or shine, from 5 to 9 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the gate for only $25, which includes one souvenir wine glass, while supplies last. Attendees must be at least 21 years old.

The night will include a silent auction with all proceeds benefitting Dormont Main Street, a nonprofit organization dedicated to Dormont business district revitalization.

Wineries scheduled to attend include Mazza Vineyards, Christian W. Klay Winery, J & D Cellars Winery and Vineyards and 6 Mile Cellars. Hearty brews will be provided by Great Lakes Brewing Company and possibly others.

Restaurants scheduled to attend include Atria’s Restaurant and Tavern, Cain’s Restaurant and Saloon, Coach’s Bottleshop & Grille, Giovanni’s Pizza and Pasta, Giovanni’s Chocolate Factory and Jose and Tony’s. The eateries will be highlighting menu specialties. Food prepared for last year’s event included Oktoberfest items, soups, quesadillas and tacos, an assortment of pizza and pastas and more.

The dulcet sounds of The Good Guys duo will provide the evening’s musical entertainment.

“The event offers us the opportunity to promote what makes Dormont such a special place to entertain,” said Joan Hodson, event coordinator, A Taste of Dormont. “It provides the added benefit of raising funds to help strengthen and improve the business district.”

Without the help of our sponsors this event would  not be possible. We would like to thank #1 Cochran of South Hills, Comcast, McCormick-Dorman Post 694 VFW, Dormont Public Library, Tommy’s Service and Dodaro, Matta and Cambest for their continuing support.
