UPDATE: Do You Have Power in Dormont and Brookline?

Banksville Plaza is still reportedly without power.

UPDATE (Jan. 29, 9:30 a.m.): Dormont-Brookline Patch has received confirmation from a Duquesne Light spokesperson that Banksville Plaza is without power due to a problem with a transformer. The outage is only affecting the plaza, and is not affecting Dormont residents.

UPDATE (Jan. 29, 9:24 a.m.): Dormont police confirmed that there was an electrical issue behind Banksville Plaza during the evening of Jan. 28, and that power is still out in the plaza this morning. It was unclear whether the outage was caused by an electrical problem or an issue with a transformer. Dormont-Brookline Patch has contacted Duquesne Light for information.

UPDATE (Jan. 28, 5 p.m.): Readers reported a power outage in Dormont around 4 p.m. Outages were reported in Banksville Plaza, on Dormont Avenue and on McFarland Road.

Are your lights still on in Dormont and Brookline?

Around 1 p.m., readers told Dormont-Brookline Patch and Baldwin-Whitehall Patch that there are some power outages in the area.

Power outages are affecting parts of Baldwin Borough, Whitehall, Castle Shannon and Bethel Park. Patch is looking into the cause of the outages in those areas.

Readers on social media told Dormont-Brookline Patch that all seems to be well in our area so far, but we want to keep our neighbors informed.
