Curran Hill and Capital Avenues Access to West Liberty Avenue Restricted this Weekend

PennDOT will be working on road improvements in Brookline.

Curran Hill and Capital avenues will be restricted at the intersection with West Liberty Avenue in Brookline this weekend, Sept. 9-12, weather permitting, according to PennDOT.

Crews will be reconstructing the center of West Liberty Avenue in the Curran Hill and Capital avenues intersection area from 7 p.m. on Friday continuously through 5 a.m. on Monday. This will require the center lanes on West Liberty Avenue to be closed, restricting traffic to a single lane in each direction through the intersection.

The overall $7.3 million project will mill and resurface about 2.44 miles of West Liberty Avenue from Saw Mill Run Boulevard to McFarland Road, including minor base repairs, joint repairs, inlet and manhole improvements, improved delineation to clarify lane designations, new traffic signals, pedestrian crossings, ADA ramp and sidewalk improvements, and roadway excavation and reconstruction to remove old trolley tracks, cobble stone and slag/cement.

The project will conclude in late 2011. The Lane Construction Corporation of Pittsburgh is the prime contractor.
