Christmas Parade This Saturday in Dormont

The annual holiday parade, cookies with Santa and lighting of the borough Christmas tree—plus special features at Hollywood Theater—will be this Saturday in Dormont.

Christmas comes early to Dormont with a day-long holiday celebration in the borough this Saturday.

The day kicks off with the annual Dormont Volunteer Fire Department Christmas Parade, which starts at 10 a.m. The parade route will follow Scott Road to West Liberty Avenue, then onto Potomac Avenue. Local fire departments, marching bands, boy and girl scouts, students from Dormont Elementary and—of course—Santa will be in the parade.

Peermont Avenue will be closed to traffic at 8:30 a.m. for parade line up.

Following the parade, Dormont's Hollywood Theater will host a free matinee of kid-friendly cartoons. Hot chocolate and popcorn will be available for $1 each.

Cookies with Santa starts at 4 p.m. in the recreation room above Dormont Pool, and the tree lighting ceremony will start at 6 p.m.
