Brookline Community Groups Get Office Space

Three major Brookline community groups will share office space on Brookline Boulevard.

Brookline’s three main community groups will now share space under one roof, with an official office on Brookline Boulevard.

The South Pittsburgh Development Corporation, Brookline Chamber of Commerce and Brookline Area Community Council will share space with at 800 Brookline Boulevard.

“This is a place where people can go if they have questions about anything community related,” said Stephanie Miller, Event Manager and Community Development Consultant for Brookline. “The hope is that it becomes a space for people to check in if they need to, especially during the reconstruction project.”

Some activities or small-group meeting for each of the organizations will be held in the office, but mainly it is an information center for the public that will be open part-time at first.

Office hours will be set soon, and a sign will mark the office space. Any questions about the community, upcoming events or anything else can be directed to brooklinecommunitygroups@gmail.com.

“If someone wants to contact a group and they’re not sure who they should talk to, they can send questions to that email and we’ll filter them,” Miller said. “I think the need for this office will present itself a lot more now. Really, it already has.”

Since the space is not large enough for public meetings, the groups will continue to hold public meetings in their normal locations.

Chamber meetings are the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m. in the branch on Brookline Boulevard. SPDC will continue to meet the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in . The Community Council meets the last Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at .
