Betty Helf Recognized For 47 Years Of Service

Betty Helf is basically the face of Dormont, borough Mayor Tom Lloyd said Monday during the Dormont Council meeting.

Helf, who has worked as a school crossing guard in Dormont for 47 years, retired this year, and was recognized by council Monday. Her resignation is effective May 3.

"You've probably seen her at the corner of Dell and Dormont avenues, and she's been the face of the pool for 35 years as a cashier," Lloyd said. "Betty, we certainly want to thank you."

Lloyd presented Helf with a plaque and a certificate of recognition, and Helf received a standing ovation from council and audience members for her service.
