UPDATE: 870 Duquesne Light Customers Remain Without Power

Duquesne Light reports that Scott Township, Mt. Lebanon, Whitehall and City of Pittsburgh residents should have power restored by Saturday evening.

UPDATE (July 12, 12:08 p.m.): Duquesne Light has issued a statement that as of noon on Friday, July 12, only 870 customers remain without power, and crews continue working to fully restore power. You can follow Duquesne Light updates on Twitter by clicking here.

Duquesne Light is reporting that as of Thursday afternoon, some area residents are still without power following Wednesday's thunderstorms.

As of 1 p.m. Thursday, 12,700 Duquesne Light customers were without service, and crews were continuing to make repairs to the numerous downed trees and wires.

With the extensive damage caused to our electrical system, we are projecting the following restoration times:

  • Late Saturday evening, July 13: South Hills neighborhoods of Mt. Lebanon, Scott Township and Whitehall.
  • Late Friday afternoon, July 12: Portions of the City of Pittsburgh; Beaver County (including Freedom, Independence and Hanover); eastern Allegheny County (including Penn Hills, Monroeville).
  • Late Friday evening, July 12: North Hills (including Ross, Aspinwall, Hampton) and western Allegheny county (including Kennedy, Robinson).

As of Thursday afternoon, Duquesne Light received reports of 422 downed wires, 170 downed trees or tree limbs on wires, and 34 broken poles.

Contract workers from Pepco in Washington, D.C. are assisting Duquesne Light in restoration efforts.
