40 Years of Flair at Resurrection Church

Resurrection Church in Brookline will hold the annual Fun Flair July 10 to 13.

This summer, the Church of the Resurrection in Brookline will celebrate its 40th year of flair.

The Resurrection Fun Flair is July 10 to 13, and parishioners are looking forward to celebrating a major anniversary of a major community event.

“If you’ve lived in Brookline for more than one summer you’re probably familiar with the Resurrection Fun Flair,” said parishioner Frank Dattilo. “If you’re not familiar with the Fun Flair then you are missing out on something special.”

Dattilo said the festival is one of the church’s most important fundraisers, and funds from the event support the church, its school and community outreach projects. But it’s much more than that.

“We’ve been bringing the community together for 40 years,” he said. “This is for all the people in Brookline, Beechview, Dormont and the communities all around. It’s not just for the parishioners.”

This year’s festival will include indoor and outdoor events at the church’s Creedmoor Avenue location. A fish fry, bake sale funnel cakes, ice cream, waffles and pierogies, and more tasty treats will be available.

For those who want to find or sell their unique treasures, a garage sale will be held. Bingo, a 50/50 raffle, Chinese auction and games with prizes also are part of the celebration—and so is the Wheel Barrow of Beer for those age 21 and older.
