I know that Dormont has been responsible for producing some real losers over the decades (trust me. I went to KO, I know). But when I moved back here eight years ago, I stated that the vermin that holes itself up in Brookline and Beachview would one day be the death of this family friendly neighborhood; that time is now. Its is no longer safe to walk to the streets in Dormont after sundown. What a tragedy.

Are you kidding me? There are losers everywhere. Anywhere there are bars incidents similar to this occur--even Mt. Lebanon. I never feel unsafe in Dormont. And it's not a great idea to walk anywhere after midnight, but you are being ridiculous by saying it's no longer safe to walk the streets in Dormont after sundown--please!!

@seanpgh what is the comment about KO? I don't think that the high school you attend is going to matter how you choose to live your life? I went to KO doesn't make me want to go out and be a bad person and hurt people. This happens everywhere not just at KO. I don't know what part of Dormont you are walking in that you don't feel safe. As a kid I would walk to friends on the other side of Dormont. Even today I walk my grandkids and dogs on these same streets. I have never once felt unsafe.

There are cameras all over the place, the shooter will be revealed and unfortunately their families will be traumatized for years to come.

I believe I seen these two worked at MIB, down the street from R Bar.

I'm the male hit by glass in the shooting. These jackals were never in the bar before. Their shots targeted ME, based on the ricochet from the first shot, and the shot through the glass. They were drunk and belligerent when they got there. It's a shame kids these days respond in such a manner. This is the ” thug”mentality that a lot of kids embrace today. They see this kind of behavior everywhere, from the ” music” they listen to, the movies they watch, the tv shows on nightly. They DON'T have to live that life. They were told to leave because of their behaviour. They responded with force. For the safety of other patrons they were removed..At 21 yrd. old, they are now going to find out what it is like to be responsible for their actions.
We can go on with our lives(thank God), while they are behind bars. They chose to do what they did. Life is about the choices you make.

Ironically, I was in MIB, that afternoon, when Charles Frieden, who initiated confrontation, tried to sell me a tv....and the shooter, Nania, said have a good day when I left....

I spent many years LIVING in Dormont acting just like those kids. Had nothing to do with KO it had to do with me. Hope this guy isn't in any type of a roll model position cause I could see where he would lead the youth of the communities he's mentioned. Anyway I quit the blame game,quit drinking and paid my financial debt back to the district court dating to the 1990's only because I wanted to come home to Dormont where it's safe and home.

The two alleged transgressors are hardly choir boys. I suspect someone should have sat them down after their first encounters with the American system of jurisprudence and explained to them the sad consequences of bad choices. The gun charges alone could cause one of the young men to be a ward of the State Correctional Institutions for a very long time. Oh, silly me, Zappala will plea bargain the felony charges down, these two misguided young men will get a summary slap on the wrist, perhaps a small fine, and be on the streets again in a few months. While others carp incessantly about "reasonable gun laws", our revolving door justice system will shortly put these two back on the street. Perhaps I'll be shocked to learn that both are incarcerated for the "full ride".

If any of you are so inclined, when a felony occurs, and your curiosity gets the better of you, you can look up past court dealings by going to http://ujsportal.pacourts.us/DocketSheets/MDJ.aspx, selecting the "Docket Sheets" tab on the scroll bar, and once their, simply select the court you wish to view, type in the "Participants Name" once you've selected that category from "Search Type", and then fill in at least one block in the section under the names. I'm pleased to see that my past transgression, withdrawn, no longer appears. It was a parking ticket at the airport, if you must know. Shame on me. I fought it and won and it no longer appears. One word of caution, don't use this website to badger or harass anyone who has been charged with or convicted of a crime. You'll find yourself in a world of grief if you mis-use these public records. Of course, parents of young ladies might wish to take a peek at the site to see if a prospective boyfriend has been naughty or nice.

Unfortunately one of these young men was mentored in his younger days by our family. Sometimes, no matter what you do for a kid, or how much time you invest, their interactions from those that called themselves parents have more influence than can be fixed. I am saddened by the poor choices he has made. He always wanted to be better than the man who raised him. I pray this wakes him up and he can make better choices in the future. I'm sorry to the people he tried to harm.
