The Perks of Being a Wallflower movie trailer is now available for viewing, and Dormont's Hollywood Theater has a cameo.
Those familiar with Pittsburgh and the South Hills may recognize the city in the trailer.
The Pittsburgh skyline can be seen throughout—and so can the Fort Pitt Tunnel in a goosebump-inducing scene.
About 20 seconds into the trailer, the camera pans to the front of Peters Township High School—with the name front and center for a second or so. (The film company paid the school district $2,000 a day while shooting the movie on the campus.)
About 1:10 into the trailer, Sam, the character played by Emma Watson, dares to bare some black lingerie and a feather boa while performing Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Hollywood Theater in Dormont.
The movie will debut on Sept. 14 with a PG-13 rating—a rating that didn't come without a fight. The Motion Picture Association of America originally deemed the movie R for "teen alcohol and drug use, and some sexual references," but the rating was lowered to PG-13 after director Stephen Chbosky and other filmmakers appealed.
The film is based on Chbosky's 1999 novel. Chbosky is an Upper St. Clair High School graduate.
