Patch Poll: Will Jerry Sandusky Get a Fair Trial?
Do you think former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky can get a fair trial in his highly publicized child molestation case?
One of the most high-profile trials of the year began on Monday and Patch wants to know if you think former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky will be treated fairly.
Prosecutors claim that Sandusky groomed boys he met through The Second Mile, the charity he founded for at-risk youth in 1977, then attacked them, in some cases in his own home or inside university athletic facilities.
Jurors will not be sequestered, meaning they can spend nights and weekends at home. But the judge gave strict orders for them to stay clear of any news reports, as well as social media.

I rather think the more important question is, if convicted, will Mr. Sandusky get a fair punishment. I am, through social contacts, including a former chaplain at Western Penitentiary, horribly familiar with the treatment convicted child molesters receive. I'll leave it to your imagination, and then caution you that you're not even close. A merciful judge will confine Mr. Sandusky to solitary confinement far away from the general population of a prison, for the rest of his life. Considering his age, any reasonable sentence imposed will run longer than Sandusky will survive, consequently a life sentence is not necessarily appropriate. A more stern jurist may not impose the condition of no contact with the general population, and in that case, Mr. Sandusky will get as good as he alledgedly gave. Its trite to say, but I do believe had one of those victims been my child, no trial would have been necessary.
