Local St. Patrick’s Day Events
Here are a few St. Patrick’s Day events happening in and around Dormont and Brookline this weekend.
Happy St. Patch-rick’s Day (almost)!
Irish or not, this is a holiday people love to celebrate, and there are a few events happening in and around Dormont and Brookline to help you get your “green” on.
Here they are:
- The City of Pittsburgh’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Downtown Pittsburgh. The parade will begin at the Greyhound Bus Station at the intersection of Liberty Avenue and 11th Street. It will proceed from that intersection to Grant Street, Boulevard of the Allies, Stanwix Street, and end at Commonwealth Place. Vice President Joe Biden will be walking in the parade. For more info about the parade, click here.
- Dormont’s own Bastard Bearded Irishmen will play twice in Pittsburgh on Saturday. The Irishmen will first play in Market Square following the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. At 9 p.m., the band will play at Hard Rock Café in Station Square. Tickets for the Hard Rock Café show are $10. Click here for details.
- A St. Patrick’s Day party will be held at Dormont Recreation Center on Saturday from 8 p.m. to midnight. The cost is $20 per person and $35 per couple. Proceeds will benefit Dormont Pool. This event is for those ages 21 and older. For details, email saran5@verizon.net.
- Jacqueline’s Salon in Brookline is offering “Pot of Gold” deals Friday and Saturday. New clients will save $5 on appointments and patrons can save %15 on any one product.

"St.Patrick's Day"
You talk about "spirit"
Well this is the day
For "Irish Laughter"
All the way!
Yes the taverns are filled
With people galore
All "dressed in green"
And "ready to pour"
And "ready to smile"
And "have great fun"
With those "great Irish songs"
That make us all hum
Like the "songs of Killarney"
And "Oh Danny Boy"
And so many others
That bring us such joy
And yes I've been there
A good many times
And although I'm italian
Nobody minds
For "thee old tradition"
And so they say
Is "everyone's Irish"
On that day!
And so "Happy St.Patrick's Day"
And many,many more
And "Erin Go Bragh"
That's for sure!
