Rogers also attended Lincoln Park for a few months as a freshman. It is highly likely the WPIAL will have a hearing on the transfer
Why would the WPIAL have a hearing on this?

There should be a hearing. Transfer for athletic intent.

Rogers is going to be a cyber school student and then play football at Gateway in the evenings. he will have an address in Monroeville as many of the other illegal transfers that attend Gateway do, but will just commute to practice daily.

Just an updated to this story. Rogers was denied by the Wpial. Must sit out his junior year in football and basketball. This was absolutely the right call. Article in the post gazette quotes his mother as saying her son was "emotionally bullied" at KO. That is a load of crap. Ricky was a popular and well like student.

RIcky was my neighbor and for his mother to say he was emotionally bullied is outrageous. Within a week of telling us they were moving they were gone, selling their house for under market value. I sure hope they know a good lawyer.

It was an article in the Tribune Review, not the Post Gazette that had the quote about emotional bullying. My mistake.

Ahh, ok. Thanks for posting. The Post-Gazette article is the one that came through in my Google Alerts. I'll check out the Trib article, too. Thanks!

Seems the PIAA doesn't follow their own rules, and has overturned the WPIAL's decision concerning Rogers. Amazing to me that last year Rogers watched a Gateway game on their sideline, but they insist he wasn't recruited or left for athletic intent. Why even bother having this rule if PIAA is always going to overturn the WPIAl decision.
