Approximately, 16 people from Mt Leb UP and Pitcher Park (that we know of) contracted poison ivy and/or poison oak cleaning the tennis courts. I myself was spared & although I thought this would be a test of my immune system, I guess spending my life in the woods camping, avoiding poison ivy like the plague when possible was for naught as I must be immune (knock on wood). A landscape contractor gave me a tip about how to stop "pre-historic" poison ivy/oak .... he said...ROCK SALT! will kill it FOREVER! Just spread it on like a sidewalk to melt snow! So..... went out and bought bags and bags of salt and threw it on the hillside at the back of the courts....we shall see!!
The Church volunteers & Pitcher Park will be returning to the courts to help prepare the courts for tennis play as soon as their poison ivy calms down and the Bengay and Advil KICK IN!! Ughhhhhh! but....It's a good feeling making something look good again!.
