Pub Crawl Will Support Dormont Police, Firefighters
Dormont residents can have a few drinks for a cause this Saturday.
Local bars have partnered with Yuengling to start what they hope will become a new barcrawl tradition in Dormont, in the name of honoring our policemen and firefighters.
The pub crawl will start on July 21 at 5 p.m. and includes these locations: Breakers, Jamison's, Mexi Casa, Cips, Slap Shots, The Apple, Albert's, and Cain’s Saloon.
Yuengling donated 500 shirts for the “Bars and Stripes” pub tour that will cost $15 at any of the participating bars. All proceeds go to the police and fire departments.
Anyone wearing a “Bars and Stripes” t-shirt will get $2 drafts of Yuengling and Yuengling Lite all night. Yuengling also donated other prizes that bar crawlers can win through giveaways, and prizes for drinking at each bar.
“The police and fire department are always good to us. They’re always there to help,” said Cain's Saloon owner Joe DeMarco, who helped plan the pub crawl.
DeMarco said the bar owners were brainstorming a way to give back to the servicemen and started planning the event this June. Yuengling was sympathetic to the cause and great to work with, according to DeMarco.
Demarco hopes that each year the event will grow until eventually the pub crawl will generate thousands of dollars for the police and firefighters.
“They do so much for the borough. They’re like unsung heroes,” DeMarco said.
Representatives from the police and fire departments could not be reached for comment prior to the publication of this article.
