Friends and Family Remember Brookline Native on Her Birthday

Karissa Kunco, who died in January, would have been 22.

Remnants of an impromptu birthday celebration were still on display at the cannon monument on Brookline Boulevard Wednesday morning.

Friends and family of Karissa Kunco, a Brookline native who was killed in January, gathered at the monument Tuesday night to celebrate what would have been her 22nd birthday.

Balloons, banners and candles bearing the messages “Happy birthday Karissa, we will always love you,” and “Happy birthday Karissa. Love you always and forever,” were left at the park.

The cannon monument also was the site of a vigil held for Kunco on Jan. 13, the day her body was found in the woods near Hickory in Washington County.

Kunco’s ex-boyfriend, Jordan Clemons, has been charged with homicide in the case.
