E-Recycling Saturday with Rep. Dan Deasy
State Rep. Dan Deasy will host a document shredding and e-recycling event Saturday.
State Rep. Dan Deasy wants to help you get rid of those boxes of paper you've been meaning to shred, and all those old electronics you just don't know what to do with.
Deasy is sponsoring a free shredding and e-recycling event Saturday for residents of the 27th Legislative District, which includes Dormont. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 22 at Crafton Borough Park in Crafton.
Residents can bring in their boxes of unwanted documents that contain personal information, including Social Security numbers, credit card numbers and bank account numbers for shredding. Document shredding will occur on-site and the shredded paper will be recycled.
In addition to paper documents, residents can bring electronic waste for secure recycling. Televisions, VCRs, PDAs, monitors, small kitchen appliances, computers, and cameras can be brought to the park for proper disposal.
Deasy also will collect cell phones and chargers for the Women’s Center and Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh and non-perishable food items to replenish the region’s food banks.
"This is a great opportunity for residents to clear out old paperwork and electronics while protecting themselves from identity theft," Deasy said in a released statement. “I encourage everyone to attend and, if able, to donate to worthy local causes in our community.”
