Dormont Man Used Neighbor's Internet Router to Share Child Porn
A Dormont man has pleaded guilty in federal court to violating federal child sexual exploitation laws.
A Dormont man pleaded guilty in federal court Dec. 5 to a charge of violating federal child sexual exploitation laws, according to a release issued by United States Attorney David J. Hickton.
Richard Stanley, 33, pleaded guilty before United States District Judge Joy Flowers Conti to possessing images of child pornography.
According to the release, Stanley used a neighbor's unsecured wireless internet router between Nov. 11, 2010 and Jan. 19, 2011 to share the pornographic images on the internet.
Sentencing has been scheduled for March 28, 2013, at 10 a.m. Stanley could face a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, or both.
The Pennsylvania State Police conducted the investigation leading to the conviction in this case. Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller is prosecuting this case.

If probation wasn't the apparent answer to nearly any criminal act in Allegheny County, he wouldn't have had access to the internet. He would have been in jail for prior offenses. Another "not a choir boy" who figured, and rightly so, that there are few consequences for bad behavior.

This problem is by no means unique to Dormont. We all need to make sure our computer connections are secured so predators like this can't use us as unwitting accomplices.
