Buffalo Wild Wings Gun Ban: What Do You Think?
Commenters express outrage on the business’s Facebook page after some of the company-owned restaurants post signs prohibiting guns on the premises.
Buffalo Wild Wings is attracting controversy after some of the chain’s company-owned restaurants began posting signs banning guns on the property.
KDKA reports photos taken at restaurants around the nation are popping up on social media sites of signs that say guns are not allowed inside the buildings.
The move has sparked outrage on the company’s official Facebook page.
"It's your right to disarm your customers as is our right to go eat elsewhere from now on to prevent becoming a victim,” said one poster. “I changed banks for the same reason.”
In a statement to KDKA, Buffalo Wild Wings' corporate headquarters said that while the company “respects the right of individuals to carry firearms. One of our top priorities is the comfort, safety and enjoyment of our Guests and we have elected to exercise our right to prohibit the carrying of firearms in our company-owned restaurants.”
The company told the news station it regrets any inconveniences, but “This long-standing position is in the best interest of our Guests and our Team Members. This position may vary in independently owned franchised locations.”
KDKA checked a few of the local Buffalo Wild Wings restaurants in Pittsburgh and found most of them currently do not have signs banning guns on their doors.
No such sign was at the Cranberry Buffalo Wild Wings location Friday evening.

Most states with CCW permits don't allow guns in establishments which serve alcohol any way. So what is the big deal?

The big deal is your presumptions do not apply to PA. In PA, you don't need any permit to carry a firearm (anyone can open carry, but you need an LTCF license for concealed carry), and there is no law against bringing a firearm into an alcohol-serving establishment.

Do you think other local restaurants should make the same rule? No. Not for the reasons given.
Schools and malls are gun-free zones. Banning guns from an establishment does not make it safer-- it just gives the appearance of safety. Their statement is a fairy-tale. If they were honest and said something to the affect that alcohol and guns don't mix, then I would agree and respect them for that. Otherwise, it's just a knee-jerk reaction with no support for their claim.

Let's look at this. The proprietor of a business doesn't allow people to bring drinks into their business and no one complains. And that is the owners right. After all, it's their business. So not allowing someone to bring a gun into their business is the exact same thing! And the reason is immaterial! If the proprietor says Ya can't ya can't! He doesn't need a reason.

You are correct that the proprietor has the right to do this. Not bringing in your own drinks has more to do about selling his drinks and making money, not exactly the same thing.

And if we are talking about alcoholic drinks, it has a lot to do with state law.
